As the mother or father, friend or relative of the bride & groom who is planning the wedding you have taken on a great responsibility. Not only must you plan the perfect marriage ceremony but you must also do it within a set budget. Costs can very quickly spiral out of control so one simply must keep tight hold of the purse strings at all times. Our first tip to save you a bit of cash is to use the people that you know. If you are friends with someone who has a big fancy house, persuade them to let you have the reception there, or if you know someone who has a wonderful garden at you are planning a summer event then ask to borrow their garden for the day.
Using your network of friends, colleagues and relatives you should be able to free up some much needed funds by asking for favours. People are usually more than happy to help, who doesn't like a nice wedding? As well as trying to get things for free you should shop around to find the best possible deal on all of your services. Caterers often differ in price greatly so get as many quotes as possible. Transport is another thing to spend some time on, the difference in costs that we have found are just staggering. Again, if you know someone with a nice car maybe just rent them a dinner suit and ask them to be chauffeur for a couple of hours.
The basic rule is that the more time you spend researching the best deals then the more likely you are to remain within your total budget. Spend the most time and the most expensive thing and remember to check back here at Wedding Prices for the latest deals and most up-to-date average costs.
